When you can have one on four wheels? Torchy's Tacos offers both options all around town (and now Dallas and Houston!), but it's more fun to go and try out one of Austin's food trucks, right?
I'm not breaking any news with a report on food trailers in Austin, but I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon (errrr...band trailer?) this week, and one of Austin's oldest and best known trailers is as good a place to start as any! Plus Michael likes Torchy's so it wasn't hard to convince him to stop by Torchy's even in the heat of the day.
Torchy's has regular restaurants all around town, but down on S. First you order your Fried Avocado, Brushfire or Democrat/Rebpublican/Independent taco from a trailer and eat at picnic tables they've got set up for you in the Trailer Park and Eatery.
My favorite is anything with avocado on it. I usually get the Democrat. I assume they did some extensive research to see which political parties like which taco toppings. Not sure how accurate those are - Democrats, Republicans and Independents, take a look at their menu and tell us in the comments, did they get your toppings right?
If you can keep yourself from eating too many Torchy's Tacos, the Holy Cacao trailer right next door actually serves 'make your own' s'mores! There's no burn ban on at the moment so take advantage of that while you can!
The Local will be checking out more of Austin's now famous food trailers throughout the summer, so leave a comment with the name and location of your favorite and we'll stop by!

I'm leaning towards the Crossroads, what with the brisket and all.
ReplyDeleteNeed to find somebody that will take me to Torchy's next time I'm in the area.
Best tacos around! I stopped by with some friends and we loved it. Can't wait to go back. Thanks for the tip!
